  1. Hi Deborah,

QUESTION, in the video ( "Create custom Header Quick Parts" you state

"select "Insert Content Only" so it (the quick part) picks up the current documents font and formatting".

Does this mean that choosing "Insert in its own paragraph" or "Insert in it's own page" will only insert the Quick Part in it's original font and formatting?

Is the same true of creating Quick Parts for footers?

    Thank you!

    Lacy

Not necessarily. One of the things I stress when making a Quick Part is ensuring that the formatting is derived from the Normal Style insofar as possible (e.g., only change line spacing of text if it needs to be that way in the final product in every document). I think my thinking here was that “Insert Content Only” will not insert an end-of-paragraph pilcrow, which is where a lot of the paragraph-level formatting gets stored (not a precise description, but close enough). “Insert Content Only” will just insert text, whereas “Insert in its own paragraph” will insert paragraph break(s) and “Insert in its own page” will insert a page break, which (in my experience) increases the likelihood of bringing in unwanted formatting that needs to be stripped out.

      Make sense?
