  1. I love these classes, they are so informative and you explain things in such an understandable manner.

Question: When tryin to continuing an in process numbering scheme, does it work backwards?

Meaning, numbers 1 & 2 were manually entered but numbers 3 & 4 were entered with automatic numbering. I wanted to apply the automatic numbering to #'s 1 & 2 (I think that is because #'s 1 & 2 got added to the document as some point). So I format painted number 3 and then highlighted number 1 and when I let go, number 1 changed to number 3 and number 3 got re-numbered to number 4 and that numbering scream cascaded down the rest of my numbered paragraphs.

    1. No, Word’s not going to go back and apply to previous paragraphs. What I normally do is use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from the autonumbered paragraph to any others that need it. It sounds like you changed the starting number for #3 and then copied that format to #1, which I think was the source of your problem. You may need to right-click on the numbers and use Continue Numbering to get it straightened out.
